Blue Whale (Royal) Kimono

The original artwork on this limited edition piece was painted by artist Helaine Becker (that's me!). My current art process is entirely digital, i.e., I paint on a computer. Nevertheless, my pieces are still hand-painted. I use a stylus as my brush, and pixels as my paint. Every piece is signed. 

My fine art has appeared in juried shows and is exhibited in galleries, offices, and homes around the world. Blue Whale is adapted from a series that celebrates marine life and our magical ocean.  (the original artwork can be viewed and purchased through my companion website,  www.HelaineBeckerArt.com). 

In this Fall '23, limited edition collection,  vibrant aqua and indigo  swim through swirling sapphire seas.  (Be sure to check out the other pieces in this dramatic collection and coordinate your look!). 

I work closely with a custom art printer to translate my designs for all of the different products in each limited edition collection. Since all designs are available only in small quantities, each pattern  will be retired when supplies run out (approximately eight months after introduction).  They never go on sale, so purchase yours sooner rather than later...

Available in three lovely fabrics:

Silky Knit :

• Lightweight, silky-feel
• Made from 85% polyester, 15% spandex performance knit fabric manufactured in Canada
• The performance fabric features EcoPoly fiber, this fiber is eco-friendly since it requires significantly less energy and water during manufacturing than conventional polyester
• Every kimono robe is printed and sewn by hand in Montreal, Canada
• Comes with knit bamboo fabric trim and matching chiffon belt
• Vibrant print will never fade with wear or washing
• Micro overlock hem finishing
• Machine wash in cold water with a phosphate-free detergent, hang to dry

Peachskin jersey:

• Brushed jersey fabric is extra soft and feels great to wear.
• Durable stretch fabric with very low pilling even after extended use.
• A versatile and easy to care for fabric.
• 95% polyester /5% spandex 
• Eco-solvent sublimation inks are permanent.
• Machine wash warm water in a regular cycle using a phosphate free detergent.
• Machine dry on medium to high heat or hang to dry.
• Iron on synthetic setting.
• Expect minor shrinking: less than 1% in width and length

Or 100% Silk Twill:

• Your vibrant digital print on silk twill will never fade or wash away.

• Visible diagonal texture resulting from the typical twill weave in this fabric gives this fabric strength
• High drapability and dimension
• Reactive inks are permanent.
• Due to some residual ink from the print process, for first washing wash alone with a full load setting in cold water. Add a mild detergent, 1 cup vinegar and 2 tsp salt. For future washes, machine wash cold water with a phosphate free detergent. Add a mild fabric softener to enhance softness and drape.
• Machine dry on low heat or hang to dry.
• Iron on silk setting (delicate) with low steam.
• Expect some shrinking: 1% in width and length
